Dioni “Monsuta” is a mixed media and digital artist from Newcastle, NSW, Australia previously based in Wollongong, NSW Australia, whose practice explores identity, chronic pain, and lived experience through an intuitive sketchbook-driven process. Working across layered materials and digital forms, he creates works that function as an evolving visual diary, translating personal narratives into textured and emotive fragments that reflect resilience, vulnerability, and everyday life.
In 2007, Dioni was selected as a featured artist in Feel Good Project 3, exhibiting alongside 27 international artists including Jon Burgerman and Catalina Estrada in exhibitions across Taiwan and Singapore. One of his designs was also chosen for the international poster promoting the exhibition.
That same year, Dioni collaborated with Monster Monster for the exhibition This is for you at Custard Factory in the United Kingdom. His work has also been featured by MTV as one of the rotating background designs on their official website.
Dioni’s broader creative background spans visual art, design, and digital media, with recognition including design work for Vivid Sydney, public art engagement through Wollongong City Council Creative Spaces, finalist acknowledgment in the Pedestrian.tv Blogster Awards, professional membership with National Association for the Visual Arts, and creative industry experience with MTV and Mambo. These experiences inform a practice grounded in experimentation, accessibility, and authentic expression.
